Kimberley Orton (she/her) is a Perinatal Mental Health Counsellor, Registered Midwife, writer and poet who lives and works in downtown Toronto. She has been published by Birthing Magazine, CV2, The West End Phoenix, League of Canadian Poets, Book of Matches, Understorey Magazine and a variety of other publications across the country. Mostly known for her writings about strong women who, through sharing their stories, are able to (re)connect themselves to one another, to notions of sanity, and to a feeling of place, Kimberley is exploring themes of love, loss, memory in fragments and what lives in the space between in her new book length poetry collection, Buried Streams. She holds degrees from UofT in Theatre and English Literature, Ryerson Midwifery, UBC Creative Writing’s MFA program, and is currently completing her MA in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

My name is Kimberley (she/her) and I am a Master of Arts Counselling Psychology candidate working under the supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist. I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). I am also a Registered Midwife and have been involved with reproductive health and birth work since 2006. I am a solo parent who experienced late postpartum depression and and am hoping to use my knowledge about fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum challenges, partner experience, relationship issues, loss and how trauma and grief reside in the body to help make the invisible visible and empower you to centre yourself as the expert of your own, unique experience. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC and have a keen interest in storytelling and the ways we choose to share our stories as a way toward wellness.
